Well, I never thought I'd be so into school. But hey, I've almost made it through my fist semester of college. Only 5 years left! haha. I'm already loving it. There will always be those papers that I waited until the last second to write, or the hours spent at the math lab, But I'm thoroughly loving learning so much. I've knocked out 5 of the 11 pre-req's I have to complete before applying to Nursing School. Intro to Nursing, Math, English, Nutrition, and Psycology. Just to give some idea as to what I'm up against attempting to get into the Nursing Program, Last semester the average GPA was 3.9. All 11 pre-reqs count towards the cumulative GPA. Also, last semester, 300 students applied and only 60 were accepted, and 10% of those picked dropped out before graduating. In order to even be eligable to apply, all 11 courses must be completed with a B or higher. There is also a test to take prior to applying. This score is given another score to add to the GPA score they gave you. Then, after you apply, if you make it into the top whatever% that they're considering, you must go through a long interview process. Not just a one person 20 min. interview. its a group of board members that quiz you for hours and try to determine whether or not you'll be a good nurse. Needless to say, I will be working my tail off to apply to the program. But if all goes well, I should be starting into the program August 2011. I don't remember wanting anything this much. So, to help in my attempt at getting into the program, I've started taking extra classes through a technical college close by. I started with just getting CPR certified. I enjoyed that class so much, I went on to get a Phlebotomy certificate. After wishing that class was longer, I signed up for a CNA class. I'm still in this class and really love what I'm learning. My next goal is to become an EMT and from there start the nursing program. Hopefully this will show the board that I'm serious when I say, I will be a Nurse. :) *crossing fingers*
Guess I've rambled enough for now :)

Karleigh that's awesome. Seriously so cool that you're going for this. I did the CNA which I enjoyed until the clinics at the assisted living. Hopefully you'll just have yours at the hospitals. Good luck and let us know when you get in!
