What I'm supposed to do.

I'm SO excited! (doesn't really do it justice) I was on a waiting list for an EMT class at UVU. 3 Weeks before the class starts, I get an opening. Then I find out I had to get approval to take 21 credits. Which means getting a letter from University College Dept and getting that letter back to the right people. (in my case within an hour, or I'd lose my spot) I got everything worked out and am all registered for the class that starts June 24th.
I've also started my clinicals to complete my CNA. I have to admit, I have a completely new appreciation for the people that do this day in and day out. Its definitely a demanding job. Both mentally and physically. But, I have had so much fun at clinicals. I love meeting so many new people, especially the quirky elderly dementia patients! I love laughing with them at their barely comprehendable jokes! I love that because I'm wearing scrubs people open up and start telling me their life story. So Fun! I can definitely see myself making a career out of caring for those that need it.
The more classes and experience I get with this stuff, the more sure I am that this is what I'm supposed to do. AND, the thought that I will eventually be paid to do what I love, just thrills me!
Gotta love it!

Hair Cut

I got bored and decided to chop off my almost waist length hair.
It may not look very short, but for me, it is :)
I've had long hair since I can remember and it was time for a change.
I might end up cutting a little more off. but its lots easier to deal with now! :)

Riley is getting bigger.

I think we're at 90 lbs now. Feels like more when she steps on you though. :)

So, I thought it would be cute to try this for 30 seconds. haha

She sits on the couch like this all the time. :)

and, our bed is like her favorite place in the world. She whines and whines if she can't be up there with you. :) but, she takes up the whole bed!

Glasses

When I noticed myself squinting all the time, I decided that I had put off getting my eyes checked long enough. I finally went to the eye doc and found out that my vision could be SO much better than it is. I had no idea how bad my vision was.  Its been a hundred times easier to see in school, YAY! I may look like a nerd, But hey, I can see!

School!

Well, I never thought I'd be so into school. But hey, I've almost made it through my fist semester of college. Only 5 years left! haha. I'm already loving it. There will always be those papers that I waited until the last second to write, or the hours spent at the math lab, But I'm thoroughly loving learning so much.  I've knocked out 5 of the 11 pre-req's I have to complete before applying to Nursing School. Intro to Nursing, Math, English, Nutrition, and Psycology.  Just to give some idea as to what I'm up against attempting to get into the Nursing Program,  Last semester the average GPA was 3.9.  All 11 pre-reqs count towards the cumulative GPA.  Also, last semester, 300 students applied and only 60 were accepted, and 10% of those picked dropped out before graduating. In order to even be eligable to apply, all 11 courses must be completed with a B or higher.  There is also a test to take prior to applying. This score is given another score to add to the GPA score they gave you. Then, after you apply, if you make it into the top whatever% that they're considering, you must go through a long interview process. Not just a one person 20 min. interview. its a group of board members that quiz you for hours and try to determine whether or not you'll be a good nurse.  Needless to say, I will be working my tail off to apply to the program. But if all goes well, I should be starting into the program August 2011.  I don't remember wanting anything this much.  So, to help in my attempt at getting into the program, I've started taking extra classes through a technical college close by.  I started with just getting CPR certified. I enjoyed that class so much, I went on to get a Phlebotomy certificate. After wishing that class was longer, I signed up for a CNA class. I'm still in this class and really love what I'm learning.  My next goal is to become an EMT and from there start the nursing program. Hopefully this will show the board that I'm serious when I say, I will be a Nurse. :) *crossing fingers*
Guess I've rambled enough for now :)
